Michael Vick, Geno Smith Battle No Contest? LeSean McCoy Says Vick 'Way Better' [VIDEO]

LeSean McCoy apparently likes to talk about ex-teammates.

The Philadelphia Eagles running back offered an assessment on the impending New York Jets battle at quarterback between former Eagle Michael Vick and Jets incumbent Geno Smith.

The context of McCoy's comment to the New York Post, as reported by NFL.com, wasn't immediately clear. The Jets signed Vick to compete with the second-year quarterback Smith for the starting job in 2014. Smith had an up-and-down rookie season, throwing for 3,046 yards on a 55.8 percent completion percentage with 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. The Post added that McCoy said Vick would still be the starter in Philadelphia if he hadn't gotten hurt and had to relinquish the starting QB role to Nick Foles.

McCoy also has been outspoken for his support for former wide receiver teammate DeSean Jackson, who signed with the Washington Redskins after being released by the Eagles earlier in the spring.

"The thing with DeSean, I think no matter what team he plays for - if it's Eagle Green or it's that terrible ugly red and yellow - he's gonna do well," McCoy told the Washington Post. "He's a special talent, and he's a heck of a player. So he'll have success wherever he goes, and I think as an offense we'll be good.

" ... Sure, no doubt, DeSean's a big playmaker, makes tons of plays, and he is one of the best wide receivers in the league," McCoy said to the Post. "But it's a business at the end of the day. Donovan McNabb was a great player and he had to leave. And I can go down the list of teams and players that moved on to different teams. We've just got to move on. I think it's in the past. I still talk to DeSean and we're still friends, but it's a business. I play for the Eagles, he plays for the Redskins, and the third week of the season we'll be getting it on."
