Floyd Mayweather Jr. Next Fight: Marcos Maidana Compared To Canelo Alvarez By 'Money' [VIDEO]

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the biggest name in boxing and pound-for-pound champion has never been known to turn down a chance to make a little noise. Recently, Floyd opened up about how his upcoming opponent, Marcos "El Chino" Maidana compares to his last conquest, Canelo Alvarez.

While both men are large, hard punchers, Mayweather indicated they present very different challenges. "It was more like a chess match and I was Bobby Fischer," Mayweather said of beating Alvarez, who attacks with cautious combinations.

"So, with this fight, with Maidana, you have a rugged guy that comes straight ahead with an attitude of, like, 'I just don't care,' and he just dethroned one of the top undefeated fighters. So it's a good match-up."

Mayweather also had some kind words for Alvarez regarding his latest bout with Alfredo Angulo, which is sure to fuel rumors of a rematch down the line. "We're going to have to be looking for the next pay-per-view star," Mayweather said. "I think you've got a lot of guys out there. I don't know if they can replace Floyd Mayweather but I think they can become pay-per-view stars and 'Canelo' is one guy. One of those guys."

Mayweather was also asked if Maidana is the hardest puncher he will have ever been in the ring with. "I can't really say. I haven't been hit by Maidana, so I can't really say," said Mayweather. "I may be the hardest puncher that he's ever fought. He hasn't been hit by me yet. We'll just have to see if he's the hardest puncher."

Maidana was certainly the hardest puncher Mayweather's protégé Adrien Broner had ever faced; Maidana is in this May 3 fight essentially because he so thoroughly battered Mayweather's "little bro" in December of 2014, knocking him down twice en route to a unanimous decision victory.
