Magic Johnson To Buy Clippers? Dodgers Owner Interested in Purchasing NBA Team From Disgraced Owner? [VIDEO]

Directly targeted during Donald Sterling's alleged racist rant where he chastises a girlfriend about bringing black people to his games, Magic Johnson is now leading a group of wealthy backers rumored to be interested in buying the team from the disgraced NBA owner.

"Magic's absolutely interested", a source told Yahoo! Sports of the NBA legend and his Guggenheim Partners. "This is 100 percent Magic's plan," a league official later told the website.

Could Clipper buycott NBA playoffs?

First-year NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has not stated what if any action he will take against Sterling after a tape of his rantings emerged this week where he endlessly berates blacks and other minorities. As part of any imposed sanctions, Sterling, the league's longest tenured owner, could be asked to relinquish control of his franchise.

"If the owners can't force Sterling to sell, they need to be held accountable to change the bylaws so they can," a member of the league's Board of Governors told Yahoo. "A fine and suspension is meaningless, and that'll be seen as a lack of acceptance that the league and owners are responsible for this as----e."

Donald Sterling's girlfriend not cooperating with NBA investigation?

Already part owner of the Dodgers, Johnson and his group also recently purchased the L.A. Sparks, keeping that struggling WNBA flagship franchise in Los Angeles.

The 80-year-old Sterling is expected to fetch a price of at least $1 billion in any sale of the Clippers.
