Detroit Pistons GM rumors: Grant Hill emerges as leading candidate to replace Joe Dumars? [VIDEO]

Former Detroit Pistons legend and current NBA Inside Stuff analyst Grant Hill has emerged as a leading candidate for the team's open GM spot, according to SI.com.

Hall of Famer Joe Dumars announced earlier this week that he was stepping down from the post after 14 seasons, paving the way for Hill's potential rise to power. The No. 3 pick in the 1994 draft, Hill starred for the Pistons from 1994-2000, even playing alongside Dumars in a few of those latter seasons.

Since leading the Pistons to the NBA title in 2004, both Dumars and the franchise have fallen on hard times, missing the playoffs every season since 2009. Despite adding free agent forward Josh Smith and acquiring Brandon Jennings last summer, the team continued to struggle this season, even firing rookie coach Maurice Cheeks 50 games into the year.

A seven-time All-Star, Hill averaged better than 22 points and six rebounds during his time in the Motor City. Earlier this year, the 41-year-old, 18-year NBA veteran was elected to the College Basketball Hall of Fame, largely based on the two NCAA championships he won while at Duke.
