Extreme Rules 2014 [VIDEO]: Update on War Games match, Bray Wyatt to face John Cena in WrestleMania 30 rematch?

With the dust still settling following a historic WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view this past weekend in New Orleans, there has been a lot of speculation about the Extreme Rules card, including a possible War Games match and rematch between John Cena and Bray Wyatt.

Superstars of past and present talk about the passing of The Ultimate Warrior

After a standoff between WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan along with The Shield against Triple H, Randy Orton, Batista and Kane closed out Monday Night RAW, there has been a lot of speculation about a War Games match between the two sides happening on May 4 at the Izod Center in New Jersey for Extreme Rules or some other time in the coming months.

The speculation has been that the plans are up in the air but it's unlikely the four-on-four match happens at Extreme Rules. The WWE will likely have Bryan defend his title against someone, with Orton being the most logical choice as Bryan won Orton's title at WrestleMania XXX without Orton being involved in the decision.

WWE WrestleMania XXX review: Reflecting on a historic night in WWE history

It's likely that Orton will take on Bryan while The Shield faces Batista, Kane and Triple H in a six-man tag team match. Regarding a War Games match that would either pit The Shield vs. Orton, Batista and Triple H (Evolution) or a four-on-four including Bryan and Kane, the WWE may not be able to pull it off because the match usually has two rings and there are no arena set-ups from now through SummerSlam that could accommodate two rings, according to Wrestlingheadlines.com.

This would indicate that two-ring War Games are impossible, though the WWE may still adapt it to a one-ring War Games match or a cage match of some kind. We reported yesterday that Vince McMahon was never big on the match concept, so it may never come to fruition.

Regarding a rematch between Wyatt and Cena, it seems to be all but a lock for Extreme Rules with a new stipulation likely to be added. Cena defeated Wyatt with an Attitude Adjustment at WrestleMania in a match that showed great psychology and really put Wyatt over as a threat despite Cena going over.

Wyatt appeared on this week's SmackDown taping to interrupt Cena's promo and tell him that things are about to get "extreme," possibly hinting at a match between the two on May 4 with an extreme stipulation.

The card has yet to unfold as of now, but the wheels are in motion for the WWE to carry the positive momentum from WrestleMania XXX into the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
