Alabama aims to capitalize on Nick Saban's 'best coach' moniker, selling naming rights to his office for $1 million [VIDEO]

Florida State may have won the football national championship, but Alabama has just made another moving proving itself to be college football king.

AL.com reported Friday that the University of Alabama Board of Trustees conjured up a plan to sell the naming rights to coach Nick Saban's office to the highest bidder for $1 million.

It's part of a comprehensive plan to provide naming-rights opportunities for almost every facility, room, office or suite in the Crimson Tide athletic department at an appropriate price.

According to AL.com, more than 300 naming-rights opportunities exist.

The most expensive piece of equipment Alabama is renting out as a naming-right opportunity is the basketball court in Coleman Coliseum for $10 million.

Companies or individuals can pony up $500,000 to put their name on the main lobby of the Mal Moore Athletic Facility where the football program is based. For a paltry $25,000, investors in Alabama can put their name on one of the 107 lockers at Bryant-Denney Stadium or one of the 137 lockers at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility.

Lockers in men's and women's basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's golf, softball, baseball, rowing and the cheerleading suite also are up for sale.

"This is important to athletics to continue to have the facilities that they have," Alabama President Judy Bonner told the trustees, Al.com reported. But the trustees warned the school not to allow just anyone with a checkbook to purchase naming rights.

"Someone could create some mischief," Trustee Finis St. John IV said. "We don't need to have it as a price list. There needs to be some level of approval on this and on the naming rights, that they be appropriate."

He suggested that Bonner or athletic director Bill Battle make final approval of any bids submitted.

Bonner credited Battle with the idea behind the naming rights. But it's Saban's name that has turned what initially seemed like a far-fetched idea into reality.
