California Chrome dominated the San Felipe Stakes on March 8. Saturday’s race could be over before the field hits the final stretch, if California Chrome is able to grab the lead and control the pace like he did in the San Felipe. The 6/5 morning-line favorite if already a lock for the Kentucky Derby is he stays healthy.

Candy Boy is currently tied for 30th in the 2014 Kentucky Derby standings and can’t afford to finish outside of the Top 2. He’s probably California Chrome’s biggest competition.

Bob Baffert’s Hoppertunity is a horse that could excel at this distance and is another lock for the Kentucky Derby. Overall, this race could be chalk city with California Chrome, Candy Boy and Hoppertunity easily the three standout horses of the field.
