Serena Williams is looking for her third straight title at Charleston and it comes at comes at the expense of the Slovakian ÄŒepelová. Serena enters the tournament looking for her fourth Family Circle Cup title which would include a three peat. Williams is coming off a straight set victory against world tennis number two Li Na in the Sony Cup with a score line of 7-5, 6-1.
No. 1 Williams and no. 78 ÄŒepelová have never faced off in the professional tournament, but the matchup isn't one to be overlooked. Where ÄŒepelová isn't favored to win by any means she could create problems if she can get into a rhythm and catches Williams sleeping.
Williams is on fire and it would be a huge upset if ÄŒepelová can muster together three great sets of tennis against the worlds number one. I cant see a scenario where Williams drops the first match of a cup she has dominated with ease the past two years.
As entertaining as this match could be, ÄŒepelová just doesn't have it in her yet to pull the upset. Better days are ahead for the 20-year-old ÄŒepelová who is only at the beginning of what could develop into a long and successful career.
