Would the Chicago Bulls draft Michigan State combo guard Gary Harris or Creighton senior Doug McDermott should it get the 14th pick in this year's draft from the Charlotte Bobcats?
The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that the Michigan guard and the Creighton Blue Jays senior forward are two of the possible targets of the Chicago Bulls should it get the 14th overall pick in this year's draft. As of Friday, the Bulls are in a position to get the 14th pick from the Charlotte Bobcats that was part of the Tyrus Thomas trade four years ago.
With the Bobcats looking good to make the playoffs, the Bulls will likely receive the conditional draft pick that would give them the 14th pick.
Joe Cowley of the Sun Times say that McDermott can give scoring for the Bulls although he will be a defensive liability. However, he also speculated that the best fit for the Bulls would be Harris as he can provide "a tough, defensive-minded, hardworking option at point guard." Harris will also serve as an insurance for injured superstar Derrick Rose, should he fall down again to injury next season.
Cowley adds other options for the Bulls include Clemson forward K.J. McDaniels and UCLA combo guard Zach LaVine.
McDermott is projected by many as a lottery pick. He led the nation in scoring with 27 points a game average. While there are some doubts about his defense, some scouts believe he can be a huge addition to any NBA team. Scoop Jackson of ESPN.com say his knack for scoring can be compared to the likes of Larry Bird, Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Love.
Meanwhile, Harris has not yet decided whether he'll turn pro this year.
