Tulsa head coach Danny Manning makes his NCAA coaching debut against the Steve Alford-led UCLA Bruins.

After starting out slow, Tulsa eventually turned things around and won the Conference USA tournament title. It will now look to go all the way through to the NCAA finals, but it will be a tough road for Manning's crew.

"To our guys' credit, they came into practice each and every game hungry and wanting to get better and little bit little we started to put it together and piece it together and now these guys go out and we have a little bit of swagger about us in terms of how we play," Manning said Thursday, according to ESPN.

UCLA will be playing just two hours away from home and has advantage is size while it is also coming off of a Pac-12 tournament win after stunning Arizona.

Alford and Manning spoke highly of one another.

"Danny Manning, he was a great player, but when you talk to people, you will find out how great of a person he is, how great of a man he is," said Alford, according to ESPN.

"Steve was a great competitor, a great shooter," Manning told ESPN. "I've known him for a while and he's always been someone that gets the best out of his players."

James Woodard leads Tulsa in points (15.7) and rebounds (5.8) while Jordan Adams paces UCLA in points (17.2) and Kyle Anderson paves the way for the team in both rebounds (8.8) and assists (6.6).
