Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had some struggles in his sophomore season returning from a brutal knee injury in 2013, however RGIII doesn't plan on wearing the knee brace in 2014 after saying it restricted him in his second year in the league.

According to ESPN, Griffin revealed that he will not wear the knee brace in 2014 after he had to wear it all season long last year due to tearing ligaments in his knee in January 2013.
Griffin confirmed the speculation that he would not be wearing the knee brace this season.

"It's safe to say I won't be wearing the brace [in 2014]," Griffin said, according to CSN Washington.
Griffin didn't play as well in 2013 as he did as a rookie in 2012, and while it's uncertain if it was due to problems with the brace or the knee itself, Griffin was emphatic that he would only wear the brace for one season as he did in college after he tore his ACL. He had surgery to repair the tear in 2008 with Baylor, but was able to ditch the brace after a year.
Griffin threw for 3,200 yards with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 815 yards on 120 attempts with seven scores as a rookie in 2012, and after spending the offseason rehabilitating, he threw for 3,203 yards with 16 scores and 12 picks while rushing for just 489 yards in 2013 while not reaching the end zone on the ground.
Griffin was benched the final three games last year by coach Mike Shanahan for his own health reasons, as the Redskins fell from 10-6 in 2012 to 3-10 last season.
Griffin was proud to be awarded the Ed Block Award for the Redskins.
"It was a tough year," Griffin said, according to ESPN. "We didn't win a lot of games, [so] it's truly a testament to my teammates to show me that they still have faith in me, to show me that they appreciate what I had to go through last year coming back from the injury and all the turmoil during the season. That's special to me."
Griffin hopes shedding the brace will help him shake-off the cobwebs of a terrible year and that he can be the explosive player for the Redskins that he was as a rookie in 2012.
