Danny Garcia next fight 2014 Amir Khan? 'Swift' survives Mauricio Herrera, Khan to fight on Floyd Mayweather undercard? [VIDEO]

If Danny "Swift" Garcia was hoping his Mauricio Herrera fight this past Saturday would serve as a springboard, he will probably need to re-think his plans. Garcia defeated Herrera by a suspicious margin on two judges' cards, but hardly impressed to the point of superstardom. It may have opened a door for his next fight, however.

Garcia said following the bout that he struggled to make the 140-lb. limit, and that may have strained him and affected his performance. With that in mind, a re-match with Amir Khan may be in the cards, as he is also looking to move into the big-money welterweight division.

Khan has been inactive for quite some time though; he competed for the spot as Floyd Mayweather's opponent on May 3, and by the time that date rolls around he'll have been out of the ring for over a year. Mayweather challenged Khan to face Adrien Broner on the May 3 undercard, but a miffed Khan dismissed that.

It's unclear if a Broner fight is on the table, but Khan's definitely warming up to the idea of fighting on Floyd's undercard. "I think it might be a good idea to fight on his undercard as chief support," Khan told BBC Radio 5 Live. "Being in front of his face is kind of good because Floyd will always see me, plus he knows that he should have been fighting me instead of Maidana."

If Khan fights in May, it will definitely not be against Garcia, and if he wins he'll likely be aiming for Floyd rather than Danny. Still, with both men moving up in weight, and having a previous history (Garcia KO'd Khan in 2012), that matchup makes a lot of sense.

If Garcia wants the super fights though, he will need a victory over a name opponent after his iffy win over Herrera, a soft-punching journeyman. Showtime's announcers all scored the fight in Herrera's favor and one judge had it a draw. When asked about the judges though, Garcia predictably lauded their decision and credentials.

"I thought I won the fight but the judges know," García said. "They're fair judges."
