Two clubs in opposite halves of the Premier League table will do battle today in a league match between Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion. The first-division clash scheduled for 11 a.m. ET will be held at Liberty Stadium in Swansea and can be live streamed here free.
A minus-17 goal differential is the only thing keeping West Brom from falling into the relegation zone entering the weekend. The club is 17th in the Premier League table and desperate for three points. To make matters worse, controversial French striker Nicolas Anelka took to Twitter on Friday to announce that he has terminated his contract (h/t to Sky Sports for the translation). "Wishing to retain my integrity, I have therefore taken the decision to free myself and put an end to the contract linking me with West Bromwich Albion to 2014, with immediate effect," Anelka said.
The Frenchman was recently given a five-match ban by the English Football Association for his controversial quenelle gesture. West Brom opted to add an £80,000 fine and order to complete a compulsory education course.
That no longer appears to be an option for Anelka.
