Miguel Sano Tommy John surgery update [VIDEO]: Twins power prospect makes recording for fans following season-ending injury

The Minnesota Twins knew they'd be bad this year, and would be selling frustrated fans on the Twin Towers of baseball prospects in their system, Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano. Buxton is the all-around, Mike Trout-esque threat while Sano, a third baseman, brings 80-grade power to the table.

Sano was closer to being Major League-ready, but sadly suffered an injury to his elbow that will require season-ending Tommy John surgery. Twins fans are certainly in despair, so Sano kindly made them a video to let them know how he was doing pre-operation.

In a video uploaded to Vimeo in Spanish, which is subtitled Sano said, "Thank you to everyone who has sent me their wishes for good health and for supporting me throughout my injury. I know a lot of you wanted to see me in the big leagues this year, in 2014, but they told me I will recuperate very soon.

"2015! See you! Good luck everybody. See you soon, and I love you forever," Sano closed before blowing a kiss to his fans.

Sano's power is outstanding, but he might not have been ready for MLB this season. He banged 19 home runs last year in Triple A, but struggled to make consistent contact and hit just .236 over 276 plate appearances. Prior to that in Double A, Sano smashed 16 home runs in 33 less at-bats while raking at a .333 clip.

A full season of Triple A pitching may have helped him adjust to the jump in quality, and cleared the way for some excitement at Target Field. On the plus side, if Sano heals rapidly, and Buxton tears up the minors in 2014, next season the pair might debut in Minny together.
