Unfortunately for Leverkusen, today’s match is merely a formality. The 4-0 loss suffered at home put the club in the impossible position of having to capture a five-goal victory in Paris. That, however, doesn’t mean the club will lay down for its French counterpart. Bayer manager Sami Hyypiä expects a valiant effort from his men (h/t to the Bundesliga’s offical website). “I'm not going to sit here and say we're going to win 5-0 or 5-1. We want to play our own game without fear, and hopefully we'll do better than last time,” Hyypiä said. “We're looking forward to the challenge. We want to put up a fight for our 2,000 travelling fans,” he added.
“We don't want to just throw the game away. We want to prove we're capable of playing good football.”
