Amir Khan next fight 2014: Adrien Broner the ticket to Floyd Mayweather? Career defining match for both on Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana undercard? [VIDEO]

Amir Khan has been bitterly upset that Floyd Mayweather Jr. spurned him and chose Marcos Maidana as his May 3rd opponent after months of dancing. Khan will have been inactive for more than a year by the time May 3rd rolls around, and his future is still very unclear.

Floyd Mayweather says Maidana a "better man" than Amir Khan?

While he complained on Twitter, Floyd Mayweather Jr. took to his own social media platform to offer Khan some advice. "I don't have an easy fight on May 3, 2014, so I can't over look @ChinoMaidana but @AmirKingKhan, if you and @AdrienBroner end up fighting... ... each other on my show and you win (which you won't)... I'll fight you," Mayweather tweeted.

Khan didn't respond kindly, saying Mayweather was "full of s-t," but the idea is intriguing. Both Khan and Broner are in need of fights to regain their good graces with fans. Khan was mocked as a possible opponent for Floyd because of his inactivity, shaky track record vs. top competition and questionable chin.

Does Mayweather-Maidana card need Broner-Khan to avoid flop?

Broner's crass attitude made him a star, but once his armor was cracked by Maidana in his first career loss boxing fans turned on him and lost respect. A match between the two would add star power to Mayweather vs. Maidana, and also have high stakes attached to it. A loss for Broner would give him a larger mountain to climb than Victor Ortiz arguably had after being knocked out by Maidana, while a loss for Khan would likely spell doom for his chances of elite PPV paydays.

Broner has seemed to embrace the idea of facing Khan, posting animated photos of he and Khan staring one another down, and hinting his next fight will be on his "big bro's" card. He also tweeted, "I don't care who I fight next I'm kicking somebody ASS!!!!!!"

Finally, a fight with Broner at welterweight will be just his third fight at that weight, while Khan will be making his 147-lb. debut.
