Bill Goldberg stayed silent about his WrestleMania 32 status ... until the event was over.
There was some speculation among fans on social media that the former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion would appear at the "Show of Shows" on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Obviously, the biggest show of the year came and went without Goldberg getting involved.
Once the event concluded, the Atlanta, Ga. native tweeted about not being at WrestleMania, while commenting on why he stayed silent.
"Never in the cards to show up tonight but I refused to spoil it for everyone by commenting," Goldberg wrote on Twitter. "Thank you all for giving a s--t."
Goldberg hasn't appeared at WrestleMania since the 20th edition at Madison Square Garden in 2004. That night is infamous for his match with Brock Lesnar, which ended up being a dud.
The WWE Universe realized both Superstars were leaving the company and opted to turn on the match, only cheering special guest referee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. To this day, it's Goldberg's only taste of WrestleMania.
It appeared the WWE was closing in on bringing Goldberg back into the fold in 2014 for WrestleMania XXX, but the talks fell through and Goldberg revealed he was unhappy with the WWE's negotiating tactics. Both sides haven't seen eye-to-eye since they failed to make that appearance work.
Goldberg created a buzz when he tweeted about the Shane McMahon vs. Undertaker match at WrestleMania. The Hell in a Cell clash was won by The Undertaker, but Shane-O Mac stole the show with an amazing bump from the top of the cell.
Due to his loss, Shane will not take over "Monday Night RAW," while The Undertaker is free to still compete at WrestleMania for years to come, if he doesn't retire.
Though many fans want to see Goldberg, who had a career-defining 173-0 unbeaten streak in WCW when he first broke into wrestling, make a comeback, thus far he's remained away from the WWE.
He did, however, leave the fans some hope by saying he's "always ready" to get involved if a deal ever emerges that is to his liking:
