Lamar Odom news: NBA vet back in states after being cut by Spanish pro team [VIDEO]

Lamar Odom is headed back to the states just two weeks after leaving for Spain to play for a Spanish pro league team. The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award winner injured his back and reportedly has decided to quit the team and has already returned to New York to for medical treatment. “The tests carried out in New York by Lamar Odom’s trusted medical team, with the knowledge of the club, have shown that the player is suffering from lumbar radiculitis, which could keep him out of action for up to two months,” a Laboral Kutxa team spokesperson said in a statement. “The player therefore terminates his current contractual relationship with the club. The north American pivot will complete his recovery in the United States.” Lumbar radiculitis is a painful spine injury that causes severe lower back pain. In total, Lamar played 22 minutes in two games, so it’s safe to say he didn’t achieve his Euroleague goals. Baskonia said it would "leave the door open" to re-signing Odom when he recovers. Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Odom seemed to take the news perhaps even a little harder than his new employers. "Lamar Odom as an athlete, he is a little embarrassed," Odom told ESPN. "But, at the same time, I am proud to be able to say that I am hurt and that I have a team that understands that I am injured and they are still supportive. That means a lot.” In total, Lamar played 22 minutes in two games. But at least now, he will be free to return to the states to repair his marriage with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian. The 29-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashian star filed for divorce late last year citing irreconcilable difference.
