Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks (21-37) will need to figure out a way to rebound from another brutal beating Thursday night in time to take on the Golden State Warriors (35-23) on ESPN. Live stream the game free by clicking this link; Knicks fans can hear the game on 98.7 ESPN New York, while Warriors fans can find the radio broadcast on 680 KNBR.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry is a fan of New York, and especially MSG; his last time on this court he hung 54 points on the Knicks in a winning effort.
"Definitely cool to think about going back to the Garden and playing and enjoying the atmosphere," Curry said. "Different situation we were in last year with the lineup we were going to throw out there. So I am just ready to get a win and enjoy it even more."
Warriors coach Mark Jackson, a New York basketball icon, remembers Curry's performance vividly. "He had an answer for everything they tried," Jackson said. "It was a special night. Without David, he put us on his back and gave us every chance to win. It was an incredible performance, an all-time great Garden performance."
Carmelo Anthony may own the signature Garden performance now, a 61-point outburst earlier this year that now seems like it happened eons ago. Melo and co. had no answer for a masked LeBron James and the Miami Heat last night, taking a beatdown that was another symbol of their lost year.
"We crumbled," Anthony said. "It got out of hand."
Former Knick David Lee will return from a stomach flu that forced him to miss two games; the Warriors are 3-0 vs. the Knicks when Lee plays. He got 20 minutes off the bench in Golden State's last game vs. the Blazers, scoring 11 points and getting six boards.
"Timing was a little off," Lee said. "I was definitely more winded quicker than I would have been. Twenty minutes felt like about 55 minutes tonight on the court, but that usually is going to happen the first game back. I'm glad I got that under my belt and I'm ready for the next one."
