Pau Gasol thinks L.A. Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni has lost control of the team and even questions whether his game strategy still works for the personnel the team has.
With 12 of the 15 players now on the roster not under contract past this season and the team some 15 games out of playoff contention, the veteran center thinks its time for sweeping changes.
"That's why you have to be disciplined and implement discipline, that's how you kind of make that better or make that not a factor," Gasol told ProBasketballTalk.com of the team's wayward ways. "I don't think there's a lot of discipline right now."
In order for the team to be better able to compete, Gasol also thinks it's time D'Antoni abandon his small-ball ways and methods. In Tuesday night's blowout loss to Indiana, the Lakers were outrebounded 62-42, and face the equally frontcourt intimidating Memphis Grizzlies with Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol next up.
"I think when you have a lineup like Randolph and Gasol tomorrow, you have to match up accordingly a little bit, I think," he told the website. "That's just me."
Gasol's 17 point average this season is the second lowest in his 13 NBA seasons, as is his 47 percent shooting percentage.
