Muhammad Ali Twitter: Follow 'Greatest of All Time' on the @MuhammadAli handle, read tweets from Cassius Clay himself; Former champ Facetimed with Pele? [VIDEO]

According to reports the "Greatest of all time," Muhammad Ali, is joining Twitter. Arguably the greatest heavyweight champion in boxing history, and inarguably one of the most influential figures in the history of sports has joined social media in honor of the 50th anniversary of his victory over Sonny Liston.

In 1964 Ali was known by his given name of Cassius Clay, and at the time Liston was a feared champion with 34 wins and no losses or draws. Following that match he changed his name to Cassius X, then Muhammad Ali, and successfully defended his title 11 times before running into Joe Frazier for the first bout of their thrilling three-fight trilogy.

The feed has existed for some time, but his team was live-tweeting commentary of his big-time matchup, while Ali's actual tweets were followed by the hashtag #AliTweet. One of his first tweets featured his classic braggadocio, "I shook up the world against Liston, now 50 years later I'm taking it to Twitter #AliTweet."

Most of the tweets coming from the handle are inspirational messages such as "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses-behind the lines in the gym, out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights." When Ali's career was over, he walked away from the sweet science with a 53-5-0 record and 37 knockouts. He owns victories over Frazier, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Floyd Patterson, and Liston.

The report from Blacksportsonline.com says all the tweets are messages that contain parts of Ali's "six core principles," which are confidence, conviction, dedication, giving, spirituality and respect. Those principles and Ali's impact reached some of sports' other luminaries too, as evidenced by a Tweet to the handle from soccer legend Pele. "Today I had a beautiful surprise, I was able to FaceTime with my idol Muhammad Ali."
