Arizona Cardinals running back Rashard Mendenhall may have hinted at retirement while writing for The Huffington Post and reflecting on the past two years of his career and his road to recovery from a torn ACL.

It was a reflective piece entitled "The Vision," full of the running back's thoughts, but it was the comment that he ended on which has led to speculation over his future in the league.

"And as I write this, today is the day that the journey is over and I am fully at peace. Eagerly looking to a new way, which lies ahead," Mendenhall wrote to end the article for the publication.

The quote has led to speculation that Mendenhall may be gearing up to call it a career after a frustrating injury has set him back. While it can be taken as a retirement hint, it can also be interpreted as a piece that is documenting his recovery from the injury. It's possible that Mendenhall could be meaning that his road to recovery is complete by saying "the journey is over."

While retirement is still possible, Mendenhall could also very well be providing good news for the Cardinals by saying that his recovery is finally complete.

Mendenhall, 26, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft and played for the Steelers from 2008-12 before signing a one-year $2.5 million deal with the Cardinals last March.

Mendenhall played 15 games for the Cardinals in 2013 and rushed for 687 yards on 217 carries while notching eight touchdowns.

Over his six years in the league, Mendenhall has amassed 4,236 yards on 1,081 attempts while reaching the end zone 37 times.

It's unknown what exactly Mendenhall meant with his final sentence in the piece, and it could either mean that he is planning on retiring or that he's back from a battle with a tough injury.

For now, only Mendenhall knows what his future holds.
