The Boston Celtics are still hoping to get to the bottom of why All-Star guard Rajon Rondo chose to remain in Los Angeles after the team's game their on Friday instead of immediately joining his teammates Sacramento.

According to the Boston Herald, Rondo did not have permission to remain behind and some in the organization are said to be displeased with his decision. Rondo celebrated his 28th birthday on Saturday and some are speculating perhaps he wanted to be able partake of the L.A. nightlife to mark the occasion.

Supporters of the All-Star guard point out that he wasn't scheduled to play Saturday because it was the second night of a back-to-back and he has not yet been cleared to play in such games after only recently returning from ACL surgery.

"We already talked about it," Rondo told The Herald of him and management. "There's nothing to talk about."

Not so fast, Mr. Rondo. President of basketball operations told the newspaper "I plan on talking to Rondo when he gets back into town. I'll find out more about what went into it, and then we'll handle it internally. We handle all of those kind of issues internally."

The Herald reports Rondo could be fined, but if not, the team will likely gain a more well-defined set of rules from this.
