Russell Westbrook's 28 points led the Oklahoma City Thunder to rout the Houston Rockets 124-94 on Saturday night.
''I felt comfortable,'' Westbrook, who chipped in eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals to help Oklahoma City to have its largest road victory after they beat the Clippers 126-85 on April 15, 2009, said. ''It's probably the first night all year I shot the ball well. I've got to put two games together.''
For the Thunder, Kevin Durant contributed with 26 points and shot eight of 18 from the field, while Kevin Martin contributed with 19 points and five 3-pointers.
''I started off terrible and I just wanted to get going,'' The Associated Press quoted Durant as saying. ''I just wanted to come out and shoot a good shot, and I was able to get started.''
The Thunder outscored the Rockets 31-26 in the first quarter and in the second period they completely outshined them 37-24 to enter the second half with an 18-point lead. Martin shot a three-pointer against the Rockets.
Durant played the most significant role in helping his team take a huge lead by scoring 11 points in the Thunder's 16-0 run at the end of the first half.
''The end of the second quarter is what pushed us over the top, and that third quarter was really good as well,'' Durant said. ''We started off so well, got some steals, got some fast-break points. So it was a good one.''
For the Rockets, James Harden was the top scorer against his old team with 25 points, but he and other Houston players did not shoot well against the Thunder, as they had only 33 of 83 attempts from the floor.
''(We were) careless with the ball,'' Harden said. ''I don't know how to explain everything, but at least get a shot up and not turn the ball over.''
Marcus Morris added a career-high 24 points and Toney Douglas scored 17 for the Rockets.
In the third quarter, the Thunder scored 28 points and allowed the opponents to add only 20 to further extend their lead to 22 points.
Oklahoma City again outscored the Houston 28-24 in the fourth quarter to register their second win over the Rockets in the current season.
