The Brooklyn Nets are one of the two teams contending for the services of free agent big man Glen 'Big Baby' Davis with veteran forward Kevin Garnett reportedly making the pitch in behalf of the Nets. However, Garnett made things clear about his courtship of Davis.

"Big Baby's not my f------ valentine," the 2004 NBA MVP joked with reporters on Saturday as reported by NY Daily News.

Reports are ripe that the Nets are slugging it out with the LA Clippers for the services of the undersized but serviceable Davis who averaged around 12 points and six rebounds in 45 games for the Orlando Magic. On Friday, the Magic and Davis mutually agreed to part ways with the team buying out his contract.

"I guess Baby's a hot commodity right now," said Garnett on his former teammate who played with him in the Celtics' last championship team in 2008. Interestingly, Garnett once made Davis cry while they were playing for the Celtics.

The fiery veteran said he did not know that Orlando had bought out Davis. "It was a coincidence that we were on the phone and I guess he was going through it the same day and that's how I found out. I think Big Baby can help us and obviously I voiced my opinion on that."

Another former teammate of Davis, Paul Pierce, shared his thoughts on the free agent big man being courted by the Nets and Clippers led by former Celtics coach Doc Rivers. "I've been around those guys for a few years, and based on their relationships, on Doc's relationship with Big Baby and Kevin's relationship with Big Baby, I would say ... they both have had some up and down moments. But, hopefully, Big Baby favors Kevin as a friend in this one."
