Keith Olbermann sick? Shingles takes out ESPN personality, latest sportscaster to go down following Bob Costas pink eye [VIDEO]

Fans of Olbermann, the ESPN sports talk show hosted by former political pundit Keith Olbermann has been missing its namesake without explanation for the past couple of days. Now, fans know what has caused Olbermann to go missing--shingles.

The sportscaster is ill with the painful virus, and let fans know the deal via a series of tweets. "FYI regarding my whereabouts: I am suffering from shingles. If somebody comes up and says "Hey, want shingles?," tell them "no siree Bob!" Olbermann tweeted.

Olbermann apologized to his ESPN co-workers for adding to their workload, in follow up tweets while describing the discomfort he's in. "My apologies to my colleagues for adding to their work burdens, and to you tuning in without an explanation. You have the latter now."

He then added, "To those asking, Shingles feels like you fell 3 flights. On to sharp poison ivy. Which then spontaneously combusts. Emitting toxic fumes."

Olbermann's woes come on the heels of Bob Costas' infamous bout with pink eye during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, which spread to both eyes, eventually forcing him off the air. According to Dictionary.com, shingles is defined as "a disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus, especially by reactivated virus in an older person, characterized by skin eruptions and pain along the course of involved sensory nerves."
