LeBron James was recently asked who would be on the “Mount Rushmore” of the NBA. While it was refreshing to see King James answer the question with sincerely, we wholeheartedly disagree with some of his selections.

James named Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson as his NBA Mount Rushmore. He followed by saying that he’ll be on it when his career ends, and its up “us” to determine who gets bumped for the King.

Well, James isn’t close in my opinion. He needs a few more rings before he’s under consideration. James is obviously capable of obtaining those extra rings but until he does, my NBA Mount Rushmore is the following:

Michael Jordan – Jordan obviously earns a spot and anyone who wouldn’t include him on their list is basically a hater or mentally unstable.

Bill Russell – This is where James and I disagree. The man has 11 rings. Yes, 11.

Larry Bird – What The Hick from French Lick did for the NBA was amazing. Bird’s rivalry with Magic Johnson helped catapult the NBA into the elite levels of sport in America, from both a business and talent perspective.

Magic Johnson – Magic’s five rings earn him a permanent spot on the monument, but he’s so synonymous with Bird that they should count as one person to allow space for someone else.
