CM Punk has not appeared in the WWE since he chose to walk out for disputed reasons right before the Monday Night RAW taping on Jan. 27, and with his noted interest in mixed martial arts there has been speculation that he may decide to pursue some MMA bouts after his contract with the WWE expires in July. Adding to the speculation, two more MMA fighters have called out Punk for a fight.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Phil Baroni and Jason "Mayhem" Miller have called out Punk social media.
"I'll fight @CMPunk in @BellatorMMA @BjornRebney. No better fight," Baroni tweeted.
Miller also took to Twitter to call out Punk in more of a joking manner.
"YO. @@CMPunk LETS FIGHT IN DAIRY QUEEN PARKIN LOT," Miller tweeted.
MMA fighter Jason David Frank has also expressed interest in fighting Punk, who is free to pursue anything he wants once his WWE contract expires in July. Punk walked out on the WWE the night after the Royal Rumble for disputed reasons.
Some felt he left due to burnout and frustration over his place on the card while others speculate that a head injury could be the reason. It could very well be both but his motives are unknown since he hasn't spoken publically since.
Punk was said to have been frustrated with his place on the card in recent years, including when it comes to WrestleMania. Punk was upset over part-timers like Batista and The Rock headlining WrestleMania the last few years while he was placed in the middle of the card.
It has been said that Punk realizing that he won't be able to complete his dream of main eventing a WrestleMania may have led to his departure.
Punk was set to face Triple H at this year's WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view, but will either be replaced by Daniel Bryan in the match or Triple H may not have a match at the show. The WWE is still hoping to get him back, though it has been reported that they don't see him as a huge draw.
With Punk's career up in the air, it remains to be seen if he'll land back in the WWE, in some kind of mixed martial arts role, or neither.
