Today at 12:00 p.m. ET, Norway and Finland faceoff live from the Shayba Arena in Sochi for Group B action in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The game can be live streamed here.
Both squads played Thursday, with Finland earning an 8-4 victory over Austria while Norway played well against the heavily-favored Canadians but ultimately lost 3-1.
Norway kept pace with the Canadians in a heavily contested first period, but Canada kicked it into gear in the second, out-shooting the Norwegians 12-2 and taking a 2-0 lead en route to a 3-1 triumph.
"We battled hard and we played for each other, blocking shots and playing the way we're supposed to play," forward Mats Zuccarello of the New York Rangers, who is the only NHL representative for Norway, told the IIHF website. "I think the second period we got a little too cocky. We have to stay humble and play the same way all the time."
Zuccarello is having a breakout season for the Rangers, notching 43 points off of 15 goals and 28 assists through 58 games.
Finland started out slowly on Thursday, allowing a goal 36 seconds in and falling behind 2-1 halfway through the first period before battling back en route to an 8-4 victory.
"We weren't ready," Finland goalie Tuukka Rask said, according to NHL.com. "They got the goal and even battled back a couple of times there. It's not a good start, but a good thing that we never let our guard down. We just kept going."
Rask is 25-13-4 through 43 games this season for the Boston Bruins, with a 2.11 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage.
Finland will look for their second win in as many days while Norway will try to bounce back from a good effort but tough loss against the Canadians when these teams hit the ice today at the Shayba Arena in Sochi as part of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
