The New York Knicks are desperately chasing Kenneth Fareid and hope to soon be able to engage the Denver Nuggets in a deal for the 24-year-old high-flying forward.

According to ESPN, the Knicks are offering a package that revolves around swingman Iman Shumpert and guard Beno Udrih.

ESPN adds to date, Denver has been resistance to the overture, or at least what's being proposed in exchange. Faried is earning only $1.4 million this season as he heads into a summer where he's eligible for a contract extension.

The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 20, and the Knicks pursuit of Faried is only expected to increase between now and then. Though the Knicks have recently been reluctant of taking on any additional long term contracts, that approach seems not to be a factor in their pursuit of Faried, who has averaged nearly a double double over his first four NBA seasons.

Thus far, it's been a season to forget for the Knicks, who currently find themselves on the outside looking in in the Eastern Conference playoff chase. The slow start had fueled constant rumors about the job security of coach Mike Woodson and in Fareid the team views, the rugged, versatile role player they now miss.
