Ever since Hulk Hogan departed TNA in October, it has been expected that he would make an appearance on WWE television in the build toward WrestleMania XXX at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and it appears as though the WWE has booked a date for Hogan's return prior to its biggest event of all-time on April 6.
According to PWInsider, "The Hulkster" and long-time friend Jimmy Hart are both set to appear at the WWE's huge episode of Monday Night RAW on Feb. 24, the same night that the WWE Network launches.
According to the report, the WWE is planning on bringing back several names during that episode--which airs the night after the Elimination Chamber event in Minneapolis, and the WWE is pulling out all of the stops to advertise the network.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the WWE has had an agreement in place with Hogan since he left TNA and Hogan was originally expected to return during the WWE Network announcement in Las Vegas last month, but the WWE changed its mind the night before since they didn't want the wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer to overshadow the announcement of the network.
Along with Hogan, The Undertaker is also expected to make his return to WWE television on that very same night and other stars from the past and present are expected to appear on the star-studded RAW that will help launch the WWE Network and help build towards WrestleMania XXX. The Undertaker is rumored to face Brock Lesnar at the big event and the build towards that match may start that night as Lesnar is expected to appear.
It had been rumored that with this being the 30th year of WrestleMania, Hogan was expected to have a place on the card at the Superdome, but with Hogan's age and health concerns, reports last month indicated that he didn't get a good result during his examination with WWE doctors, and may be held to an appearance or promo of some kind at the event.
There were also rumors last month that the WWE was looking to induct the WrestleMania I main event into its Hall of Fame as the first match to ever be inducted. The match was a tag contest that pitted Hogan and Mr. T in a tag team match with "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff back in 1985. The WWE was looking to get each member of the match at the Hall of Fame ceremony on April 5 at the New Orleans Arena, but have had trouble landing Mr. T.
It remains to be seen what the WWE's role for Hogan will be at WrestleMania XXX, but it looks like his return to the company where he helped build 'Hulkamania' into an international phenomenon is set in stone.
