The Arkansas Razorbacks are planning to retire jersey number 42 in honor of former President Bill Clinton and in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its run to the 1993-94 national championship.

According to Times Record Online Edition, the former President revealed the Razorbacks' plans during an interview with ESPN. He was the most popular fan of the Razorbacks' championship team coached by Nolan Richardson.

"Well, they're celebrating the 20th anniversary of Arkansas winning the national championship when I was President, So they said that I was their sixth man and they wanted to put a No. 42 jersey because I was the 42nd President, which I thought was really nice," the website quoted Clinton as saying during the interview.

The website added that Arkansas associate athletic director Kevin Trainor confirmed the plans, saying they are trying to find an appropriate date to honor the former President at a game at Bud Walton Arena.

The Razorbacks have two remaining home games in February, one against LSU on February 15 and another against South Carolina on February 19. It will have two home games as well on March- against Georgia on March One and Ole Miss four days later.

Arkansas coach Mike Anderson who served as an assistant in that championship team, said he was not aware of any plans to honor the former President although he said it would be nice to have him back in the building.

He told the website: "The last time I saw him in the building was probably after the national championship. During the national championship year and after the national championship year. When you talk about an alumnus, former president, a Hog fan, it doesn't get any better than that."

The '93-'94 Razorbacks were led by former Sacramento Kings forward Corliss Williamson, defeating the more fancied Duke Blue Devils led by Grant Hill, 76-72, in the championship game.
