Anthony Davis will replace the injured Kobe Bryant as a Western Conference All-Star Game representative in next weekend's game, USA TODAY Sports is reporting.

The New Orleans Pelicans star forward will be making his first all-star game appearance after being selected as a the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Davis is averaging 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.3 blocks per game.

Though Davis's selection has yet to be officially announced, USA TODAY reports league officials heavily weighed the fact that the game is in his home city of New Orleans is tabbing him as a replacement. Davis is also slated to play in the Rising Stars Challenge game, showcasing the best rookies and second-year players.

Bryant has played in just six games this season due to various injuries because some have related to the Achilles tendon tear he suffered late last season. He was voted into the game as a backcourt starter by fans along with the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry.

L.A. Clippers guard Chris Paul, who finished third in fan voting at the guard position, is expected to replace Bryant as a starter.
