Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Edmonton Oilers (20-33-6, 46 points) and New Jersey Devils (23-21-13, 59 points) faceoff live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey for the second and final time this season. The game can be live streamed here. Edmonton fans can hear all of the action on CHED 630 while New Jersey fans can do the same on 101.9 WFAN.
Edmonton enters play on a three-game winning streak while New Jersey has lost two in a row. The first time these two teams met, the Oilers defeated the Devils 5-4 in a shootout on Oct. 7 in Edmonton.
The Devils have had a habit of blowing late leads, and are coming off of a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in overtime on Monday.
"It's frustrating," coach Pete DeBoer said via NHL.com. "It seems that's kind of what we're dealing with right now. It hasn't been an issue all year and then all the sudden the last three games we've had an issue in the last minute. We have to find a way to get a second and third goal. If you let anybody hang around in this league long enough, bad things happen, and that's the story lately."
The Oilers are coming off of a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers Thursday night that saw former No.1 draft pick Nail Yakupov net the game-winner with just 1:38 left in the third.
"It was a good play by our guys down low to protect the puck. All I had to do was find space in the middle. I just had to find a spot," Yakupov said per NHL.com. "I think that was our top game this season. We played good. We need to do it to have a good time before the [Olympic] break."
The Oilers have been led offensively by Taylor Hall, who has 10 points in his last nine games and a total of 55 points off of 19 goals and 36 assists while Jordan Eberle has 19 tallies and 26 markers for 45 points and David Perron has a team-high 22 goals along with 20 helpers for 42 points.
Jaromir Jagr has paced the Devils with 48 points off of 17 goals and 31 assists while Patrik Elias has 11 markers and 22 helpers for 33 points and Travis Zajac has eight points in his last seven games and has lit the lamp nine times while adding 20 assists for 29 points.
Corey Schneider is likely to man the crease for New Jersey and is 10-10-9 with a 1.91 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage while Ben Scrivens is the probable starter for Edmonton and is 10-8-4 with a 1.98 GAA and a .937 save percentage.
The Oilers search for their fourth straight win while the Devils try to hold onto a lead if they get one when the puck drops tonight at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
