The new A-11 Professional Football League has targeted Tim Tebow as a recruit for their new league.
According to NFL.com, league officials have had multiple discussions with Tebow's representatives about playing in the league, slated to feature the unconventional A-11 offense in which any player is eligible as a receiver.
"Tebow is perfectly built for this football league," league founder Steven Humphries told NFL.com. "He's my favorite football player and always has been.
Added league commissioner Scott McKibben "we would love to have Tim Tebow join our league. Tim Tebow stands for everything we think the game ought to represent -- character, values and role-modeling for young players."
Tebow last played in the NFL with the Jets in 2012, and has joined ESPN as a college football analyst and made his debut for the BCS National Championship Game in January. The network also plans to feature him on its news SEC Network that launches in August.
Tebow has also been persistent in insisting he plans to someday play in the NFL again, and A-11 league officials are hoping they might be able to convince him the league could serves as way of further showcasing his skills to NFL bigwigs.
NFL.com reports Tebow would be a quarterback if he were to play in the league and it would be for a franchise in Tampa Bay, which is close to the Florida campus where Tebow starred and won a Heisman Trophy.
The A-11 league is also slated to have teams several major markets and at least three of them (Tampa Bay, New Jersey and Los Angeles) will have their names adopted from the old United States Football League.
