Vancouver has lost five straight games entering tonight while Montreal has lost two of its last three games and finish up their four-game homestand tonight. The first time these two teams met, the Canadiens defeated the Canucks 4-1 in Vancouver on Oct. 12.

The Canadiens have lost just once in regulation over their last five games and are coming off of a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday that had their coach praising the team's defense.

"Our defensive game, when we were struggling, was something we tried to pay a lot of attention to and I believe we've only allowed five goals in five games," Michel Therrien said per NHL.com. "So that's a great sign. The players are paying attention to detail, so that means their focus is there."

The Canucks, meanwhile, are coming off of a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Tuesday and have been held to two or fewer goals in 12 of their last 18 games.

"If we're not scoring goals, it's tough to win games," captain Henrik Sedin said following the loss, according to NHL.com, "and that's where we are."

Henrik Sedin (nine goals, 31 assists) and Daniel Sedin (13 tallies, 27 helpers) each lead the team with 40 points while Ryan Kesler has lit the lamp 19 times and added 18 assists for 37 points. Henrik Sedin (ribs) is sidelined.

P.K. Subban leads the Canadiens with 38 points off of eight goals and 30 assists while Max Pacioretty is 2-2-4 in his last five games and has 23 markers and 11 helpers for 34 points and Tomas Plekanec has found the twine 16 times and added 16 assists for 32 points.

In a preview of what could be the battle to see who will suit up for Team Canada in the 2014 Winter Olympics, Roberto Luongo goes up against Carey Price. Luongo is 19-14-6 with a 2.32 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage while Price is 24-17-5 with a 2.37 GAA and a .937 save percentage.

The Canucks look to halt a five-game skid while the Canadiens try to continue to win games when these teams hit the ice at the Bell Centre tonight in Montreal.
