Plaxico Burress House Sells For Half Original Value? Former Giants Super Bowl Hero Takes Real Estate Hit [VIDEO]

Plaxico Burress has sold his Florida estate, but the former NFL star was only able to get back roughly half of what he paid for the property just a few years ago, according to TMZ.

The website reports Burress unloaded the 6,872 square-foot mansion he acquired in 2005 this week for just $2 million, compared to the $3.995 million he paid for it in 2005, just before the start of the now infamous housing bubble.

TMZ adds officials documents reveal Burress sold the home under the terms of what's known as a short sale, an instance where the bank agrees to accept less money than what's owed on the mortgage of the property.

TMZ also reports the home comes replete with a full media screening room, an oversized pool and 100-foot dock and has marble throughout.

The 36-year-old Burress last played in the NFL with Pittsburgh in 2012. He was set to join the Steelers in training camp last preseason, but suffered a torn rotator cuff that lander him on the sidelines for the entire season.

In all, Buress has played nine NFL seasons and has 553 career receptions and 64 touchdowns.

In August of 2009, Burress was sentenced to two years in prison and two years supervised release after accidentally shooting himself at a New York City nightclub with a gun he was carrying in the pockets of his jeans.
