Tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (36-14-5, 77 points) and New York Rangers (30-23-3, 63 points) take the ice at Madison Square Garden in New York City for the first of two meetings against each other this season. Colorado has won four games in a row entering play while New York looks to extend their winning streak to four straight after earning their third consecutive victory.

The Avalanche earned a 2-1 triumph over the New Jersey Devils in overtime Monday night.

"I'm very proud of our group. Every night, the guys are focused and playing hard," Colorado first-year coach Patrick Roy said per NHL.com. "That's the reason we had a chance to come back. We gave ourselves a chance to win."

The Rangers have three games remaining before the Olympic break and have won nine of their last 12. The team will look to finish strong before sending some of its players to participate in the Sochi Games.

"We have to make sure that we are all focused in on the three games in four nights, the three games before the Olympic break," Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said via Blueshirts United on Monday. "We have to make sure we continue to play the good hockey we have been. I am expecting our veteran guys and core guys to make sure everybody understands what we need to do here."

The Rangers have been led offensively by Mats Zuccarello (15 goals, 24 assists) and Brad Richards (14 markers, 25 helpers) who each have 39 points while Derek Stepan has found the back of the net 10 times and added 25 assists for 35 points. Zuccarello is on a three-game point streak.

Matt Duchene has paced the Avalanche with 48 points off of 17 goals and 31 assists while Gabriel Landeskog has 16 tallies and 28 helpers for 44 points and Nathan MacKinnon is on a five-game point streak and has found the twine 20 times while adding 21 assists for 41 points.

Between the pipes, Colorado will likely turn to Semyon Varlamov, who is 28-9-5 with a 2.43 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage while New York's Henrik Lundqvist will likely man the crease. Lundqvist is 20-18-3 with a 2.46 GAA and a .917 save percentage.

The Avalanche look for their fifth straight win while the Rangers seek to notch their fourth in a row when the lights come up tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
