Love is apparently not in the air for New York baseball superstars, as Mets star Matt Harvey, who will miss the 2014 season due to Tommy John surgery, has broken up with his girlfriend of eight months, supermodel Anne V.

The two had originally been seen canoodling at a New York Rangers game in May of last year, and reportedly spent New Year's in Thailand. Their romantic relationship soured since then though, and they decided mutually to end things. A source did tell Us Weekly that "The split was amicable, and they remain good friends."

This breakup comes on the heels of Yankees superstar Derek Jeter's split with Sports Illustrated model and DirecTV genie Hannah Davis hit the tabloids. In July 2013, Harvey famously admitted his admiration of Jeter's multiple romantic conquests.

"That guy [Jeter] is the model," Harvey told Men's Journal. "I mean, first off, let's just look at the women he's dated. Obviously, he goes out - he's meeting these girls somewhere - but you never hear about it. That's where I want to be."

He also said that he would not be a homebody just because he's a Major League star. "Yes, I'm gonna go out," he said. "If I was locked up in my house all week, I don't know what I'd be like on the baseball field. No matter what, New York is now my home. I could buy a place now, but I've gotta wait for that $200 million contract. If I'm going to buy an apartment, it has to be the best apartment in the city."

Following comments like that, perhaps it isn't surprising he's newly single. His injury could be a factor as well. Part of Jeter's split was a focus on recovering from injury to be ready for the 2014 season. Harvey's campaign is shot, but he has an arduous recovery ahead of him that will require his full attention.
