If reports turn out to be true, the NBA All Star Slam Dunk Contest could have two of the game's exciting young players displaying their athletic prowess: Washington's John Wall and Portland's Damian Lillard.

According to J. Michael of CSN Washington, Wall had told him in a phone interview that the lightning-quick guard has been invited by the league to participate in the Slam Dunk competition that will happen a night before the All Star game, where he was selected as a reserve.

Wall is still not sure about his participation, said Michael who added that the guard has also been invited to join the Skills competition. "I'll make decisions (Friday) or sometime next week. They have asked me. I'm not sure. I don't know what I'll do yet. I'm shocked after the news I got tonight so I can't even tell you," Wall told the columnist.

Meanwhile, CSN North West is also reporting that sources have indicated that Lillard has been invited to the slam dunk contest. However, the second-year guard has not yet commented on the report.

The Slam Dunk contest is in need of a popularity boost ever since Blake Griffin decided to stop taking part in the said competition. Last year's field of dunkers- Gerald Green, Eric Bledsoe, Jeremy Evans, James White, Kenneth Faried and eventual winner Terrence Ross- was conspicuously lacking in star power. All participants last year had never been an All-Star. That could change significantly if both Lillard and Wall-two of the rising superstars in the league-eventually say yes to the league's invitations.
