Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Washington Capitals (24-22-8, 56 points) and Detroit Red Wings (23-19-11, 57 points) skate against each other live from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for the second of three meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Washington fans can hear all of the action on WFED 1500 while Detroit fans can do the same on 97.1 The Ticket.

Washington comes into play having lost eight of their last 10 while Detroit has lost two straight games. The first time these two teams met, the Capitals defeated the Red Wings in a shootout 4-3 in Detroit on Nov. 15.

The Capitals are coming off of a 5-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.

"I was today the worst player out there," said Alex Ovechkin after he was a minus-5 in the game, according to NHL.com. "The blame is on me. I can't play like that and I have to bounce back. I was out there all five goals. I feel bad for my team. I have to lead by example but today I was bad."

While he was the worst on the ice that day, he's been the best on the team this season with 55 points off of a league-high 38 goals and 17 assists while Nicklas Backstrom has 11 markers and 39 helpers for 50 points and Marcus Johansson has reached the back of the net seven times while adding 26 assists for 33 points.

The Red Wings leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg (16-28-44) may return from a back injury tonight while second highest scorer Pavel Datsyuk (15-17-32) remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. Daniel Alfredsson also has 32 points off of 12 tallies and 20 helpers.

"We just have to see," Zetterberg told NHL.com Thursday. "We've done everything we could so it doesn't get worse and now just hopefully stay on this path and it keeps getting better."

Detroit might get Jimmy Howard (knee) back, and he is 9-12-8 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage while Braden Holtby will likely suit up for Washington and is 15-13-2 with a 3.00 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

Two struggling teams go head-to-head when the Capitals and Red Wings hit the ice at the Joe Louis Arena tonight in Detroit.
