Brett Favre Similar To Peyton Manning? Statistical Dominance In Regular Season Can't Outweigh Super Bowl Ring Total? [VIDEO]

Brett Favre strongly identifies with Denver Broncos star quarterback Peyton Manning.

Like Favre, Manning enters Super Bowl XLVIII against Seattle having won just one Super Bowl despite annually posting some of the league's most gaudy numbers. It's all meant for both men regularly facing questions about if they belong in the same class as such perennial big game winners as Joe Montana, John Elway and Tom Brady.

"I kind of laugh at that really," Favre told USA TODAY Sports of all the questions. "I heard the same thing in my career. Statistically speaking, if you're middle of the road and won a lot of Super Bowls, it does a lot for you. But not as much if you win just one Super Bowl and put up big numbers."

Favre and Manning rank first and second, respectively, in all time passing touchdowns, yards, attempts and completions, yet both are just 1-1 in Super Bowl appearances. Both men also have 11 career playoff losses over their lengthy NFL careers.

"I know how hard it is to compete for that long," Favre told USA TODAY. "Peyton's the closest to me in that respect. It's tough to be good year in and year out, and week in and week out for that matter. I think it's foolish to say his legacy will be affected at all."

Perhaps it's that kindred connection that best explains why Favre seems to be pulling for Manning come Sunday's big game.

"I feel like most people," Favre, who will be part of the NFL Network's Super Bowl GameDay pre-game show,he told the newspaper. "Denver's going to be hard to beat. There's a question in my mind how many points they can actually score against the Seahawks, I just don't know if Seattle can score enough to support that defense."
