Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Carolina Hurricanes (24-19-9, 57 points) and Montreal Canadiens (27-20-5, 59 points) skate against each other live from the Bell Centre in Montreal for the second of three meetings against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Carolina fans can hear all of the bone-crunching action on 99.9 The Fan while Montreal fans can do the same on TSN 690.
Carolina has won four games in a row and jumped into playoff position while Montreal is the loser of four straight games and is looking to keep grip on the final wild-card spot. The first time these two teams met, the Hurricanes notched a 5-4 victory over the Canadiens in overtime on New Year's Eve in North Carolina.
The Canadiens are coming off of a 5-0 loss to the Washington Capitals Saturday that had the fans calling for coach Michel Therrien's job.
"I've been in this line of work a long time," Therrien said via NHL.com "Honestly, it's not something I'm preoccupied with. Our preparation for our next game and communicating with our players are the only things I'm concentrating on."
The Hurricanes are coming off of a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday in a victory that jolted the team past Columbus for a playoff spot.
"We knew it was a big game. You don't want to dwell a lot on it in order to let the guys kind of figure it out," coach Kirk Muller said per NHL.com. "They came out and we made a couple mistakes that cost us early, but the guys knew it was going to be a grind. We needed 60 minutes to win the game. I thought it was great because we keep talking about staying the course and keeping that structure winning or losing."
The Hurricanes have been led by Eric Staal (14-30-44), Jeff Skinner (22-15-37) and Andrej Sekera (8-22-30) thus far this season. Sekera has six points in four games.
The Canadiens, meanwhile, have been paced by P.K. Subban (8-28-36), Max Pacioretty (9-21-30) and Tomas Plekanec (16-15-30).
In between the pipes, Carolina will likely go with Justin Peters, who is 7-9-4 with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage while Montreal will likely turn to Carey Price, who is 22-16-4 with a 2.50 GAA and a .918 save percentage.
The Hurricanes and Canadiens faceoff live from the Bell Centre tonight in Montreal.
