Florida police have dropped all charges against L.A. Dodgers star outfielder Yasiel Puig stemming from his traffic related arrest last month where the arresting officer initially berated him as reckless.

According to TMZ, police now admit the 23-year-old Cuban is "nothing more than a common speeder." Puig was hauled off in handcuffs by the clearly angry Highway Patrol Officer on the morning of Dec. 28, after he was allegedly spotted traveling in his Mercedes at speeds as high as 110 MPH.

Dressed in pink short and a T-shirt, Puig was captured on video being led off to jail by the officer as he continued to berate the volatile young Dodgers' star.

TMZ reports Puig faced up to 90 days in jail if he was convicted. At his hearing, however, state authorities admitted "speeding on an open highway doesn't constitute reckless driving."

Puig, who recently signed a seven-year, $42 million deal, hit .319 with 19 homers and 42 RBIs during his rookie season. Puid had 27 hits in his first 15 games, tying Joe DiMaggio and Terry Pendleton for second most all-time over that same time frame. Puig also smashed seven homers over his first 20 games and set a franchise record for most hits over that same span with 34.
