Despite being widely criticized by fans and NBA players, the sleeved jerseys continue to be adapted by NBA teams. Count the Brooklyn Nets as the newest NBA squad to come up with their own version of this trendy uniform.
According to ESPN.com, the Brooklyn Nets will unveil sleeved jerseys in blue and grey colors as their alternative uniforms. The short sleeved jersey has a v-neck with a grey body, blue piping and trim line. Across the chest area is the familiar blue Brooklyn wordmark.
The blue and grey color scheme is reminiscent of the old Nets logo dating back to their New Jersey days. ESPN likewise notes that the color scheme is also in tribute to the NFL's Brooklyn Dodgers team which played in Brooklyn until 1957. The Dodgers now play in LA, but has remained ingrained in the city's sports history.
The blue and grey sleeved jerseys will make its first appearance on March 21 when the Nets face the Boston Celtics. It will also be worn in four other games which the organization bills as the "Brooklyn Blue Nights." The jerseys will be sold at retail, with prices going from as low as $50 to $110.
Last December, the Nets took part in the league's BIG holiday tradition by wearing the "BIG Logo" uniform on Christmas Day when they were blown out by the Chicago Bulls, 95-78 at the Barclays Center. The said BIG logo uniform was black in color and featured the Net's secondary logo with a 'B' on a basketball.
