It was reported on Thursday that WWE officials were feeling confident that this might be the year that Steve "Sting" Borden comes to the WWE for a WrestleMania appearance as the WWE begins to build towards the WrestleMania XXX pay-per-view on April 6 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Reports indicate that the WWE has begun to put together creative ideas for what to do if and when Sting hops on board.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that while a contract between the WWE and Sting has yet to be signed, talks between Sting and the company have come so far that WWE officials have begun discussing creative ideas for Sting's arrival and one such idea involves using the name "A Man Called Sting."

The WWE has been unable to land Sting ever since WCW closed its doors in 2001, as he has been a TNA mainstay ever since. It had been rumored that the WWE was once again in talks with Sting, but the company has come close to landing him in the past only to have him decline which makes many fans skeptical. However, with Thursday's report of the WWE feeling good about their chances of landing Sting, he may in fact be at WrestleMania XXX.

The WWE has tried for years to bring in Sting to face The Undertaker and his undefeated WrestleMania streak, so naturally his rumored opponent for the event would be The Undertaker if the WWE signs him.

It had been reported that the Undertaker may be taking on Brock Lesnar at the event, but that will likely be changed if they sign Sting, given the fact that The Undertaker may not be able to wrestle the physical match Lesnar would like to have at his age.

As the plans stand right now, according to various reports, the WWE was going to use Lesnar's match with The Big Show at this Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view event as a stepping stone to make Lesnar look dominant over The Big Show heading into a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Still, if the WWE does indeed land Sting, it is likely that the plans between 'Taker and Lesnar will be scrapped in favor of a match that would pit WWE phenom The Undertaker against former WCW phenom Sting.

With WWE officials feeling good about signing Sting and already coming up with ideas for him, it seems likely that he'll finally appear in the WWE at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans on April 6.
