Will Steve "Sting" Borden finally cross the threshold into the WWE? After years of the WWE trying to land Sting for a WrestleMania match with The Undertaker, reports indicate that the WWE could be close to landing the former WCW and current TNA star for WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, WWE officials have reportedly believed for months that Sting was coming this year and it's been talked about even more as if it is definitely going to happen lately. Sting has been courted by the WWE for years but never jumped ship after WCW went under in 2001, and has been a mainstay in TNA since.

It has been rumored that Sting's opponent would be The Undertaker if the WWE ever landed him for a WrestleMania match, as 'Taker has never lost a match at that event and he would put up his undefeated streak against a WCW/TNA icon. Reports leaked last week that the WWE was continuing to talk to Sting--whose contract with TNA has yet to be renewed.

It had been reported that The Undertaker would be taking on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX, and it was mostly seen as a backup plan if the WWE was unable to land Sting. However, with nothing set in stone with Sting, the current plan is for the WWE to use Brock Lesnar's match against The Big Show at Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view as a stepping stone to make Lesnar look invincible heading into a clash with The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

WWE officials have been concerned about whether or not 'Taker can keep up with the physical match Lesnar would like to have at his age and if his body would be able to handle it, so if the WWE works something out with Sting, they may go elsewhere with Lesnar at the event..

The WWE hasn't signed Sting to anything but with talks still being alive and the general feeling backstage being that Sting may sign with the company, the WWE may finally have the Sting vs. The Undertaker icon vs. icon match at WrestleMania.
