Apparently, that Australian Open quarterfinals post-match question about whom she would like to date wasn't so bad for Eugenie Bouchard after all.

TMZ.com reported Wednesday that pop sensation Justin Bieber was made aware of Bouchard's interview-gone-viral in which she said Bieber's name in response to the dating question.

According to TMZ.com sources connected to the singer said that "the footage got all the way to Justin himself, and he was so flattered, he's telling friends he wants to get in touch with Eugenie as soon as he can."

At the very least, the 19-year-old Bieber owes the 19-year-old Australian Open semifinalist for creating a diversion from the reports that while she was winning the biggest tournament of her young career, he was "making it rain" at a Miami strip club, King of Diamonds, which reported that Bieber spent $75,000 - in one-dollar bills - during a Martin Luther King Jr.-themed party, according to thehollywoodgossip.com.

Onthegotennis.com reported later Wednesday that Bieber did in fact reach out to Bouchard via Twitter:

From @JustinBieber: "@geniebouchard good luck :)"

Bouchard then tweeted: "Dropped my phone in the ice bath and it still works. Today is a good day."

Bouchard defeated Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open and conducted an on-court interview after the match that the crowd watching the match could hear.

The interviewer said, "You're getting a lot of fans here, a lot of them are male. And they want to know if you could date anyone in the world, of sport, of movies - I'm sorry, they asked me to say this - who would you date?"

"Um, ... Justin Bieber?" Bouchard said.

The question was met with vitriol on Twitter as sexist and demeaning to Bouchard.

But also may have sown the seeds for the latest celebrity couple.
