Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET the No. 18 Duke Blue Devils (14-4, 3-2 ACC) will face a stiff road test when they head to Miami to play the Hurricanes (10-7, 2-3 ACC) on ESPN2 in ACC action that can be live streamed free here. Duke fans can hear the game on 620 The Buzz AM, while 'Canes fans may follow suit by turning their radio dials to 560 WQAM.
Duke's Jabari Parker re-discovered his stride in a thorough thrashing of North Carolina State in the Blue Devils' most recent game, scoring 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting in a 35-point victory. "I thought Jabari was attacking instead of just shooting jump shots," head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "Changing habits is not easy, especially when you were so successful with other habits. It's just a process."
Parker leads Duke in points per game (19.1) and rebounds (7.3) but still needed to do more to keep Duke in the Top 25. It appears as if he's figuring out how to remain one of the nation's top players.
"I think I prepared better," said Parker. "Myself and the coaches, we just wanted to see me do a little bit more. If I want to be a big player and a strong piece for our team, I need to come ready to play."
Duke opened ACC just 2-2, but has won their past two games. "Our team was outstanding," Krzyzewski said. "We got better this week, and hopefully we can continue to do that. We're going to have to play that hard to have an opportunity to win in this league."
Miami is a team that tends to play best when the stakes are highest, though. Tonight they're faced with a highly-touted team that is ripe for their taking. Still, Duke has owned Miami for quite a while, and head coach Jim Larranaga figures Parker will pose problems.
"Everybody knows that Duke is a major challenge for us," Larranaga said. "They have a player who the NBA scouts are drooling over and he's just a freshman. They have a lot of things going for them."
