It has been reported over the last couple of weeks that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper wanted to be involved at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in some fashion with the returning Hulk Hogan, and while making an appearance on "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's podcast this week, Piper discussed the possible draw a program with Hogan could make.

Hogan and Piper were on opposite teams in the original main event at WrestleMania I in 1985 when Hogan paired up with Mr. T to take on Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff in a tag team match, and along with reports of that main event being the first match inducted into the Hall of Fame the night before WrestleMania XXX, there are also talks of Hogan and Piper being involved on the actual show that will mirror the first WrestleMania.

Piper discussed this possibility with Austin on the podcast.

"This is WrestleMania XXX, Piper told Austin on The Steve Austin Show. "I've pinned Hogan once and he's never pinned me. From a fan's perspective, and WWE Universe and Vince [McMahon], it never had closure. The business that would be done, the interviews and stuff would be coming from the heart. We could try to outraise the bar of the WWE entertainment machine in our sport, if they let us go toe to toe and don't script us. The fans will see really how it got started and why, and then they'll see the conclusion. They are asking can I get in shape. I am already in shape! They are asking Hogan. But there is a fear, I guess, of whether we can pull off the performance."

There have been rumors that Hogan will return and he's expected to sign a deal any day now, but with Hogan's age and injury history, he may not be able to wrestle at the event as Piper alluded to in the interview.

There has been a lot of speculation to what Hogan's role would be at WrestleMania XXX if he can wrestle. The rumors have included Hogan taking on Piper in a legends match, Hogan and Piper teaming up to take on "The Real Americans" Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro and Hogan pairing up with John Cena to take on Piper and another heel.

Piper was hoping to work with a heel CM Punk to take on Hogan and Cena, but the WWE is keeping Punk face for his rumored match against Triple H at the event. If Hogan can't wrestle, he will likely be featured in some kind of on-screen role and may even be in Cena's corner for whatever match he has.

It remains to be seen what will happen at WrestleMania XXX, but Piper is pulling for a match with Hogan that is 30 years in the making.
